Aspirations to Higher Ground

DAY TWENTY-NINE:  My Aspirations

I used to have huge aspirations; I wanted to be a famous author, someone that everyone knew my name.  Well, life and a little practicality got in the way and yea, I'm going to settle for less.  ;)

I aspire to be successful...whatever I do.  I want to be famous and successful still...in my job's own right.  I don't expect to be nationally known; but I would like to be good at what I do.  No...the best.  I think I'll always spend my life trying to be the best.  The best friend.  The best girlfriend.  The best cop.  The best student.  The best parent...

If I have one aspiration it's to be the best.

I want to be able to be proud of what I've done or what I'm doing.  Being the best doesn't exactly mean that I'm 100 times better than everyone else, either.  For me, being the best  is being the best that I could possibly be.  So maybe somebody else can be better than me at something; but that doesn't bother me as long as I'm being the best that I can possibly be.

So, in a way, I want to be proud, satisfied, and happy.  Maybe I'm being unreasonable...but I don't think that's too much to ask.
